Mercedes Airmatic & Air Suspension Repair in London

We diagnose and repair all Mercedes air suspension systems — Airmatic on E-Class, S-Class, CLS and GL/M-Class, plus the legacy ABC hydraulic system on SL / CL. Most faults are a failed air strut, a worn compressor, a leaking valve block or a ride-height sensor, and we replace only what has actually failed.

Air Suspension Repair
Price: Diagnostic from £85. Strut replacement from £550 per corner. Typical time: 1 day typical

Air suspension failure is one of the most frustrating — and most mis-diagnosed — faults on a modern Mercedes. We see it every week. The good news is that on almost every car the fix is one specific component, not the entire system, and we have the equipment and experience to find it quickly.

How we diagnose it

We put the car on Xentry, read the suspension control unit, review ride-height sensor live data, run the compressor on demand, and smoke-test for leaks when needed. Within an hour we can usually tell you exactly which component has failed.

Common Airmatic failures by model

W211 / W212 E-Class: rear air struts. W220 / W221 S-Class: front struts and compressor. W166 / W164 ML / GL: compressor and valve block. W219 CLS: rear struts. We stock OEM-equivalent struts for all of these.

Frequently asked questions

  • What are the most common Mercedes Airmatic faults?

By far the most common are leaking air struts (particularly rear struts on W212 E-Class and W221 S-Class), followed by compressor wear, valve block leaks and ride-height sensor failures.

  • Should I convert my Airmatic to coilovers?

Only as a last resort. A coilover conversion is cheap short-term but changes the ride character, can trigger permanent fault codes and usually hurts resale value. We recommend repairing Airmatic properly in almost every case.

  • Do you warranty Mercedes air suspension work?

Yes. Every Airmatic strut and compressor we fit carries a 12-month parts and labour warranty.
